CONTINUOUS VERTICAL CASTING
The aluminum and additive raw materials are melting into an electric holding furnace with a capacity of 17T.
Once ready, the inclination of the furnace free the melted metal into the SNIF.
The SNIF is a filtration box. Its function is to avoid inclusion in liquid metal, degasses the hydrogen (H2) and reduces the alkalis (sodium, calcium ...)
Then the metal is filtered again via a ceramic foam filter.
The aluminium will get into the casting well.
Fitters are placed to adjust the diameter to be cast.
Diameter available are from 110mm up to 1040mm.
The bottom of the casting well is going down as the metal pours into it.
Billets can reach 6m lenght.
All of this casting operations and pouring process are monitored for quality and safety purposes.
